The ELSA Way is written by people with very different backgrounds: patients, nurses, doctors, developers, researchers and policy makers. This code of conduct sets out how we expect everyone to treat each other, in issues, pull requests, reviews and meetings.
Our standards¶
We expect you to:
treat every participant with respect, whatever their background, experience or point of view;
give feedback that is specific and actionable, and aimed at the work rather than the person;
write so that non-specialists can follow you: explain jargon and abbreviations, and leave room for people without a technical background;
be honest about your expertise, declare conflicts of interest, and report errors when you find them;
remember that the aim of this work is better AI for patients, and keep their perspective central.
Unacceptable behaviour¶
We do not tolerate:
harassment, discrimination or intimidation based on personal characteristics;
personal attacks or insults;
deliberately misrepresenting other people’s views;
undisclosed conflicts of interest that bias contributions;
plagiarism or copyright infringement.
Reporting¶
If you experience or witness behaviour that breaks this code of conduct, report it to the editorial board. Reports are treated confidentially and investigated promptly.
Enforcement¶
If someone breaks this code of conduct, the editorial board may give a warning and ask them to change their behaviour, exclude them from the community temporarily or permanently, or remove their contributions. The editorial board has the final say on enforcement.
Acknowledgments¶
This code of conduct is adapted from the Contributor Covenant and The Turing Way code of conduct.
