The ELSA Way is the main output of the WP Integration work package of the ELSA AI Lab Northern Netherlands (ELSA-NN). We started it because the people who build AI for healthcare often want to do it responsibly, yet struggle to find guidance they can apply on a Monday morning.
The handbook collects what we learned from research with AI developers and healthcare professionals, from co-creation workshops, from peer-reviewed publications and from conversations with patients and communities. We wrote it down so that a project team can act on it.
The book is written in the open on GitHub, where anyone can suggest additions or point out gaps. How content is reviewed and who decides is described in Governance. Expect some chapters to be thinner than others: we add to them as projects and readers teach us more.
